HJWAVE receives the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy Award at KINPEX 2023

 

  • The 'Antenna Structure with Beam Tilt Function' technology applied to high-level autonomous driving radar antenna wins the Minister's Award at KINPEX 2023 and participates in the exhibition



The autonomous driving RF specialist company, HJWAVE (CEO TaeHwan YOO), announced that it won the Minister's Award from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, which corresponds to the gold prize, at 'KINPEX 2023,' the largest domestic intellectual property fair hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office on the 1st of this month.

 

The 'Antenna Structure with Beam Tilt Function' technology is one of the essential functions required in radar systems that support autonomous driving. It allows for adjusting the detection range of objects on the sides of the vehicle, and it is also a beam control technology designed to improve the installability of front, rear, and side radar on vehicles.


This technology eliminates the installation constraints of radar sensors on vehicle designs and internal structures, ultimately reducing the number of radar installations. It is a key technology that can ultimately decrease the number of radars installed. Products incorporating this technology are currently on display at COEX until the 4th.

 

CEO TaeHwan YOO stated, "I believe that receiving the Minister's Award from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy is an objective and credible recognition." He further added, "We are proceeding with follow-up tasks, including facility establishment, not just for the acquisition of technology but for mass production application." He concluded, "Based on our technology, we hope that autonomous driving technology will be realized, leading to the establishment of a safe and comfortable driving environment."

HJWAVE has launched two types of phase arrays and 3D antennas exclusively for imaging radar

The new products utilize a cascading structure with four chips to implement Tx16*Rx16, a total of 256 elements. The first method, a PCB Phase Array structure, incorporates an EBG (Electromagnetic Band Gap) structure to eliminate the channel deviation and ripple that are typical shortcomings of conventional methods. The second method, the WGIM (Waveguide Injection Molded) 3D antenna structure, consists of three layers and improves channel deviation by 40% and ripple by 20% compared to the improved PCB Phase Array method. HJWAVE has launched a 24GHz waveguide antenna product implemented on PCB.
