HJWAVE, Autonomous Driving Supported Antenna Technology, U.S. Patent Registered

 

HJWAVE, company specializing in autonomous driving materials, components, and equipment, announced on the 17th that its independently developed autonomous driving radar’s broadband and wide-angle antenna technology has been granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The patent, titled ‘MULTI-LAYER ANTENNA STRUCTURE SUPPORTING WIDE BAND AND WIDE ANGLE,’ enables the implementation of both broadband and wide-angle characteristics simultaneously. It represents an invention that significantly improves the bandwidth by 500% and widens the angle by 150% compared to conventional technologies, while also securing mass production capabilities and achieving an 82% weight reduction. This patent has already been registered domestically and is currently under application with the European Patent Office.

Yoo Tae-hwan, the CEO of HJWAVE, stated, “The approval of this US patent validates our company’s distinctive proprietary technology compared to overseas competitors. Furthermore, by utilizing this antenna technology for development and mass production, we aim to strengthen our competitiveness for global market expansion. Additionally, contributing to the localization of autonomous driving radars will also improve trade balance and benefit the export industry.”

The company stated, “As the autonomous driving industry advances, antenna-related technologies are becoming crucial elements. Therefore, we have completed the registration of a total of six patents (five domestic and one international) not only for the specific patent mentioned but also for five other core technologies that need to be secured for mass production. Additionally, we have submitted 12 patent applications (ten domestic and two international).”

They further added, “We are currently in discussions with various domestic and international companies regarding projects and commercialization. These efforts have resulted in securing various contracts and achieving 8 billion won in Pre-Series A investment. Moreover, we are actively seeking Series A investments to establish manufacturing lines for applying the registered patents in actual production. We are already in discussions with multiple investment firms for detailed investment agreements.”

Finally, the company revealed, “We plan to showcase products utilizing this technology at the US CES (Consumer Electronics Association) and the European MWC (Mobile World Congress). These events will serve as a launching point to enhance global marketing efforts and pave the way for expansion into various industries.”

HJWAVE has launched two types of phase arrays and 3D antennas exclusively for imaging radar

The new products utilize a cascading structure with four chips to implement Tx16*Rx16, a total of 256 elements. The first method, a PCB Phase Array structure, incorporates an EBG (Electromagnetic Band Gap) structure to eliminate the channel deviation and ripple that are typical shortcomings of conventional methods.
