HJWAVE has launched two types of phase arrays and 3D antennas exclusively for imaging radar

HJWAVE (CEO Tae-Hwan Yoo), a specialized company in millimeter wave (mmWAVE, 30~300GHz) technology, announced on the 9th that it has launched two types of antennas exclusively for imaging radar.

The new products utilize a cascading structure with four chips to implement Tx16*Rx16, a total of 256 elements. The first method, a PCB Phase Array structure, incorporates an EBG (Electromagnetic Band Gap) structure to eliminate the channel deviation and ripple that are typical shortcomings of conventional methods. The second method, the WGIM (Waveguide Injection Molded) 3D antenna structure, consists of three layers and improves channel deviation by 40% and ripple by 20% compared to the improved PCB Phase Array method.

HJWAVE CEO Tae-Hwan Yoo stated, “Our company maintains over 95% accuracy when comparing simulation results during the development stage with the performance measurements of the actual products. This high accuracy allows us to reduce both development time and costs.”

He also stated, “The measurement data reveals a high consistency of 98.2% between the aluminum samples produced during the proto stage and the coated injection molded samples from mass production Version. This high level of consistency has allowed us to validate the reliability, stability, and feasibility of our technology development.”

An HJWAVE representative explained, “We are currently working on projects with two global chip makers and three autonomous driving radar companies. We are establishing a phase 1 automated antenna mass production line at our Yongin plant, with an annual capacity of 2 million units. We plan to start sample production in October this year and fully operate the mass production line by December. Next year, we plan to expand to a phase 2 capacity of 8 million units annually and are also considering setting up a complete radar assembly line for the mobility sector.”
